At Select Soccer Club, we take immense pride in watching our alumni succeed at the game’s highest levels. Ally Sentnor, a former South Shore Select standout, delivered a breakout performance for the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) in the SheBelieves Cup. Despite the U.S. finishing second in the tournament after a hard-fought loss to Japan, Sentnor’s contributions were remarkable. Over three matches, the 21-year-old forward tallied two goals and an assist, playing a key role in the team’s attacking efforts.
Her first career international goal came in her first-ever start against Colombia. In a moment that showcased her technical brilliance and confidence, Sentnor unleashed a swerving, long-range strike that left Colombia’s goalkeeper with no chance. This goal marked a milestone in her young career and solidified her place as a rising star for the USWNT.
Sentnor continued to impress in the second match against Australia, where she assisted on Michelle Cooper’s game-winning goal. Then, in the tournament finale against Japan, she found the back of the net again, demonstrating her poise and finishing ability under pressure.
This performance follows a stellar year for Sentnor, named the 2024 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. The former University of North Carolina standout was also the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft and now plays professionally for the Utah Royals.
At Select Soccer Club, we emphasize elite-level competition and player development, character, and perseverance—values Sentnor embodies every time she steps onto the field. Her journey from our club fields to the international stage inspires every young player striving to reach their full potential.
Congratulations, Ally, on your incredible performance! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you.
